Our hikes are extremely popular, particularly our 90 minute length ones. This unique experience gives dogs a chance to fulfill their physical, mental, and social needs, three things that dogs crave more than ever, in our modern world. Dogs are pack animals and there is nothing more natural for them than to walk through nature, as a pack. Along with the freedom to run and play, we also incorporate structure into our walks, to set every dog up for success. All dogs in our pack will learn reliable recall, impulse control, proper social skills, and good trail manners. Safety is our number one priority so we teach all dogs solid recall before going off leash and use GPS tracking collars on all dogs (these are the antennas you might notice in our pictures).
At Walk With Bruno, we aren’t a service that takes a dog down the street and back for a quick potty break. We aren’t a doggy daycare environment, where dogs are left to their own devices, lacking direction. Our walks are truly a unique experience that will help your dog become their happiest and fullest potential. We are confident in our services and the benefits that we can offer to your dog.
This is our most popular option! Adventure hikes are off leash, in conservation land with a small pack of dogs. We usually cover at least 5 miles. Every dog is equipped with a GPS tracking collar. Our hikes are the perfect balance between play and structure and the dogs benefit significantly from the amount of physical and mental exercise. The dogs have so much fun on the hikes and the owners rave about how calm they are afterwards!
Our group walks are a good option for dogs that need a break in the day for exercise and socialization. We carefully group our packs based on temperament and physical abilities. All our walks take place in local conservation land and all dogs are equipped with GPS tracking collars.
No. We will do our best to prevent dogs from becoming excessively dirty but how clean your dog stays depends upon their fur texture and gravitation towards mud. Some amount of dirt, ticks, and mud is an inevitable outcome of hiking off leash. We try to keep dogs clean within reason but our main priority is that they have fun. If you want your dog to always come back as clean as they left, we are not the best service for you.
We are not selective about dog personalities and able to accommodate many 'quirks'. We can work with your dog on certain issues they may have, to help them work their way into walking with a pack. If your dog does not fit well into doggy daycare or other hiking services, that's okay. Many of our clients have been kicked out of day care environments but thrive with us. If your dog has a high prey drive or no experience being off leash, that's okay, we can work with them.
Location however plays a large role in who we can take. We only service a few neighborhoods in Sudbury and for the most part, do not service north or south Sudbury. Please feel free to reach out to us to see if you're within our radius. We are selective about location in order to keep drive time to a minimum for our pack members.
All dogs within our group must walk on a weekly schedule. This ensures that our group dynamic stays consistent. We only take dogs that walk with us a a minimum of twice a week. We don't take dogs on an 'as needed' basis.
Our availability for weekly hiking spots tends to be very limited so we encourage everyone to reach out to us right away to get on our waitlist, if needed.
Contrary to others, we don't feel there is a set minimum age that your puppy should be to join the walks (other than being fully vaccinated). We feel that teaching a puppy off leash skills, as early as possible is much easier than waiting, and helps create a more confident, balanced dog. Walking amongst stable, older peers is an excellent form of socialization for puppies.
